Out of Latvia, comes an animated short employing the mesmerizing strokes of paint on glass to tell an ancient tale. Karlis Vitols’ “Minotaur” is a brightly hued piece in which a small Minotaur tries to find playmates in the infinite labyrinth while his father Minotaur is at work. He only manages to meet mythological characters busy with their own ambitions.
The winner of numerous awards, “Minotaur” is a long colorful voyage that is truly Odyssean in scope. It becomes endlessly engaging to watch the different fabled characters Vitols’ team brings to life with its kinetic brushes of color. When the over eight minutes long piece is done, you actually find yourself wanting more.
