Out of New Zealand and hand-crafted out of paper and clay, Kiri and Lou is a genuinely enjoyable kids show for parents. Really! This achievement hinges on the likeability of the two title characters coupled with the way that the episodes are just weird enough and just sweet enough to keep both kids and adults entertained.
Kiri and Lou follows the adventures of Kiri, a feisty little dinosaur with overpowering emotions and Lou, a gentle but thoughtful creature. Kiri and Lou live in a forest of cutout paper and other creatures made of clay. They are joined by motherly Pania, sensitive Sorry, who is an extremely fast little animal who cares about everyone, and Dalvanius.
Featuring stop motion animation from Antony Elworthy (Coraline, Corpse Bride and Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs), the series is voiced by Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords, Moana) and Olivia Tennet and is written and directed by feature film director Harry Sinclair.
Aimed at 3-6 year olds, the multi award-winning series is financed by NZ On Air and BBC, and has been a huge success in the UK as well as airing in 11 countries, including Canada, Australia, Sweden, Finland and South Africa and in parts of Europe and the Middle East. In the US, you can catch Kiri and Lou streaming on Nick Jr.
