A couple of weeks ago we featured Early Man, the new motion picture from Aardman Animations. This week we’ve enjoyed getting to see Early Man and his crew make another appearance. This time in a DFS Sofa commercial advertising their aptly named Mammoth Winter Sale.

In the piece we get to see what happens when the Stone Age cast gets a furniture upgrade, and let’s just say they are less than easy on their new pieces. Ultimately, however, the new decor has a civilizing effect on them all.

“The Search for Comfort” is one of a series of DFS stop motion ads out of the UK’s Scary Cat Studios. For this one they teamed up with Aardman by supplying the furniture and allowing Aardman and characters to animate and have their way with them. The result is pretty funny and DFS surely proves its point: their pieces are so fine, they can soothe even the most brutish of cavemen.

Scary Cat’s series contains six other ads for DFS with fabric characters made from materials that actually match the furniture. Most of them feature fairly elaborate sets re-imagining how the pieces are created right down to rows of sewing machine crafters, idea labs, and warehouse quality controls. Check them out:
